Welcome to the Old Pioneer Cemetery website!

Located on a 1/2 acre lot in Johnsville, Kentucky (Bracken County), about 35 miles southeast of Cincinnati, Ohio, it is the final resting place for 73 souls from the Johnsville area.  The first recorded burial was in 1852, the latest being in 1914, and at least two known veterans are buried there.  The last recording of the cemetery was on July 18, 1998 by the Bracken County Historical Society.  In 1999, a cemetery board was formed by a group of local individuals to care, maintain, and preserve the cemetery in its current state. Currently, care and maintenance is provided by the board members on a volunteer basis.  We are seeking donations to help pay for mowing expenses, upkeep, and care as needed.  Anyone wishing to contribute should send donations to Old Pioneer Cemetery, c/o Tracey Florer, P.O. Box 310, Brooksville, KY  41004. We are a 501C3 nonprofit organization; therefore, any donations are tax deductible and are greatly appreciated.  Receipts are provided on a yearly basis.

The individuals buried here are listed on the following page by name and date, as read on the gravestones.  Anyone seeking more information on those buried here should contact the Old Pioneer Cemetery Board at [email protected] or go to the Bracken County Historical Society Website at brackencountyhistory.weebly.com. Thank you for visiting our website.  A special thanks to NKOL online and Foster Technology Group for website hosting and design.
